A journey through time

Riad Les Trois Palmiers Marrakech

Description de l'image
Riad Les Trois Palmiers El Bacha, a fusion of two houses and a passionate couple, forms the essence of this 18th-century riad nestled in the heart of Marrakech's medina. Here, guests come to rejuvenate and relish in a historic retreat.
Authenticity holds true in this guest house, boasting traditional architecture and a warm welcome.
More than just a riad, it offers an immersive experience. Overflowing with praise in guest books and online reviews, it's often described as a hidden gem within the medina.
Caroline and Patrick excel in welcoming travelers. A stay in this centuries-old abode typically starts with a moment of relaxation on the patio, sipping tea and enjoying pastries. The journey into the past commences as guests discover photos documenting the riad's restoration. In the cozy lounge where these photos hang, Caroline, Patrick, and their staff enlighten visitors about the rich history of the place.
Afterwards, guests are encouraged to explore the property before receiving personalized recommendations and a hand-drawn map of the surrounding area. Additionally, they share captivating anecdotes about the city's past, enriching the historical experience.
These former senior executives from southern France and Alsace speak passionately about the Marrakchi heritage that they want contribute to preserving. It was during their midlife crisis that they decided to change their lives. In 2004, they purchased an old family's Riad in the Medina of Marrakech, specifically in the famous Dar El Bacha district, to create their guesthouse.
At a time when the trend was to tear everything down to create contemporary spaces, they decided to preserve the spirit of the place.
Nearly two years of work were still necessary to renovate everything and provide the house with the comfort that guests rightfully expect. The original plans were preserved, including the arches, windows with wrought iron bars, and most of the antique doors.
The renovation and rare additions were meticulously entrusted to the best artisans: tataoui craftsmen, intricate stucco work, wrought iron, woodwork, tadelakt, and zellige tiles. The 13 rooms, filled with antique furniture and objects, have welcomed travelers from around the world, charmed by the allure of this ancestral Riad and the warm hospitality of the staff. No less than 10 people are dedicated to the care of the guests, from receptionists to drivers, from housekeepers to chambermaids, not forgetting the now famous cook, Dalila, who gives cooking and pastry classes to visitors.
For all these reasons, Riad Les Trois Palmiers regularly receives accolades from the largest traveler review sites. It's a reward that crowns Caroline and Patrick's efforts to offer the comfort of a luxury guesthouse without sacrificing conviviality. "The greatest compliment visitors can give us is to say they felt at home," assures the couple.

What Our Guests Say ?

This is a very nice property. Our room was large and well appointed. The property is new and clean. Luxurious and exclusive with a good location vis a vis the entire city but a bit tricky to locate as you have to walk through a dungeon inside the Medina to find it and there is no signage, except for Riad Dalia which is next door. The manager is a bit bossy in a nice way. You have to learn to live with him. They do not take credit cards and that was not clear in Expedia. There are a lot of bees flying around during breakfast competing for your honey and jams. Breakfast is OK but not outstanding and service is not as quick as one would expect. They also have issues with helping getting your luggate to your car. They do not have a luggage cart in the property. You need to let them know you will be late in order for them to open the door after 8pm. Regardless it is an authentic experience.

This is such a beautiful place to stay. It's very calm and peaceful as well, especially compared to the sometimes frenetic pace of Marrakesh itself. I had a room on the roof that had it's own rooftop garden. Everyone who worked here was extremely helpful. I was able to arrange both airport pickup and drop off through the hotel and had dinner there my first night as well, which was excellent. I only had two nights here, which was definitely not enough. I would love to go back sometime.
